What is a Gorgon?
A Gorgon is a creature from Greek mythology, often depicted as a monstrous woman with snakes for hair. According to the myths, anyone who looked directly into a Gorgon's eyes would be turned to stone.
The most famous Gorgon is Medusa, who, unlike her sisters Stheno and Euryale, was mortal. Medusa's story is filled with drama and tragedy, including her eventual defeat by the hero Perseus, who used her severed head as a weapon thanks to its petrifying powers.
